Master coach spills on club’s secret ban after grand final glory

56+ min ago (587+ words) North Melbourne coach Darren Crocker has spilled on the club's secret ban for the 2025 season. After downing Brisbane by 40 points on Saturday night to claim consecutive premierships, the coach proudly stood on the dais and shouted "back-to-back. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: North Melbourne completes perfect AFLW season The dual premiership coach had refused to utter those three words until his side achieved the feat, the first in the AFLW. Despite an incredible winning streak, including an unbeaten run since losing the 2023 grand final to Brisbane, the Kangaroos refused to get ahead of themselves. "A little bit of a joke up on the dais at the end, because we weren't allowed to mention the words back-to-back, Crocker said in his post-match press conference. You think Perth was crazy? Get set for pink-ball carnage

1+ hour, 23+ min ago (935+ words) If you thought the frenetic first Test in Perth was a blockbuster, then get ready for the sequel. Because if rain doesn't drag the Gabba day-night match out, it's not out of the question we could see another two-day Test. Traditionally, the Gabba pitch has a healthy coverage of grass for red-ball cricket while being a little soft on top, offering early seam movement, and swing once the humidity kicks in. Add in a pink ball, under lights, in Brisbane weather conditions and we might be walking straight into absolute carnage. Both batting line-ups looked vulnerable outside the off stump in Perth, feeling for balls they should've left, chasing width, and playing airy drives. That combination doesn't survive long at the Gabba in a day-night Test. If you want a comparison, look at Adelaide Oval's pink-ball record. Dusk and early…...

Party crowds have indeed been encouraged recently at LIV events, but it's rare to see such scenes at a PGA tournament. The moment quickly went viral on social media, with popular golf account Flushing It sharing the vision. Battling Aussie veteran under fire for rogue rant

4+ hour, 13+ min ago (533+ words) Khawaja raised eyebrows on Friday when he hit out at the surface for the first Test, just a day after the ICC handed it the highest possible rating of "very good. Speaking at a fundraising lunch for the Usman Khawaja Foundation, the Test veteran criticised the wicket's variable bounce during Australia's eight-wicket win. He also pointed to the fact 19 wickets were lost on day one this year against England, and 17 last year in the series opener between Australia and India. CA officials are believed to be disappointed by the remarks, and will speak with Khawaja in camp ahead of the second Ashes Test at the Gabba. The Perth Test was the shortest in Australia in 93 years, and the second shortest of all time in the country, with just 847 balls bowled in the entire match. "Nineteen wickets on the first day…...

NRL club rocked by massive blow with two stars sidelined for months

4+ hour, 15+ min ago (282+ words) Jeremiah Nanai and Griffin Neame will miss the start of the NRL season through injury in a blow to North Queensland's hopes of recovering from a poor 2025. But winger Murray Taulagi is expected to resume full training after Christmas despite leaving the field in the Pacific Cup final with a knee injury. Queensland representative Nanai has undergone reconstructive surgery on the shoulder that he injured during Samoa's win over Tonga in late October. Neame has suffered a setback in his recovery from surgery on his season-ending shoulder injury and will not play Round 1 as initially planned. The important forwards will be absent as the Cowboys begin bouncing back from a 12th-placed finish that prompted questions over Todd Payten's future as coach. Neither will play in the Cowboys' Las Vegas season opener against Newcastle, with the club expecting to have a…...

NRL star issues emotional health update after devastating injuries

4+ hour, 52+ min ago (382+ words) Eli Katoa remains hopeful of returning to the NRL, with Melbourne Storm saying his recovery from brain surgery is "going well. Katoa was ruled out of the 2026 NRL season after undergoing emergency surgery in New Zealand to treat a brain bleed suffered while playing for Tonga in the Pacific Championships. The Storm second-rower's career was thrown into doubt after he suffered three head knocks in 90 minutes and required oxygen on the sidelines. Katoa spent more than two weeks in hospital before consulting with specialists in Melbourne, who advised he not play next season. The 25-year-old is continuing his rehabilitation and recovery under the watch of the Storm medical staff, and said he hoped to play again. "My recovery is going well and hopefully I can keep ticking all of the boxes that I need! "And to the Storm fans, in…...
