Suspect arrested in shooting of legendary Oakland coach John Beam at Laney College: police

(KGO) -- A suspect is in custody for the on-campus shooting of legendary coach and current Laney College Athletic Director John Beam, Oakland police have confirmed. Beam remains in critical condition. The suspect was taken into custody early Friday morning around 3 a.m., and was in possession of a gun, a source told ABC7 News. Authorities had been searching for the suspect since he fled the scene after the shooting at noon on Thursday.
