Essentially, Mr. Smith, the father of capitalism, is saying, "Tax the Rich. Press Upgrades Underway At Post-Journal

2+ mon, 2+ week ago (347+ words) At The Post-Journal, we've always taken pride in delivering a high-quality printed newspaper to our readers, and we're investing to make that product even better. Earlier this summer, we completed the replacement of our south-end press units at our central production facility in Jamestown. Now, as of September 8, we've begun the final phase of this major press upgrade: replacing the north-end units. This work is expected to be completed by September 26, 2025. Once the project is finished, our press capacity will increase from 10 units to 12, allowing for improved production efficiency and print quality. These upgrades are made possible through our acquisition of The Dominion Post in Morgantown, W.V., a strategic move that enabled us to bring in a significantly newer press with more advanced capabilities. Our previous press, dating back to the 1950s, has served us well for decades. But this modern equipment…...

Old School Venue | News, Sports, Jobs - Post Journal

2+ mon, 2+ week ago (405+ words) Lauren McChesney got more than admission to a double feature when she handed her ticket to Matt McClanahan at a different drive-in he managed in 2018. They started dating a year later, and, in August, got engaged. In between, they purchased Shankweiler's Drive-In Theatre, which was Pennsylvania's first drive-in and only the nation's second when it opened in 1934. The couple began brainstorming about drive-ins during a cross-country road trip that included stops at both operational and abandoned theaters. Their original goal was to open a new drive-in, but when they learned Shankweiler's might get sold to developers, "the light bulb went off," McClanahan said. "Why are we spending so much time trying to build one when there's one literally down the road from our house that's for sale and is like the most important drive-in?" he said. The Gambrill family, center,…...

Facing Challenges | News, Sports, Jobs - Post Journal

3+ mon, 2+ week ago (215+ words) Scattered rain earlier this week came as a welcome relief to some local farmers, as the lack of rain in recent weeks is leading to some concerns and questions about crops for the upcoming harvest season. Paul Starceski of Sherman said the distinct lack of rain before the last few days may be harmful to both hay and corn growth. "We definitely need the rain, a lot of the hay fields are going to get hurt," Starceski said. "Some corn is starting to curl up and that's not good, depending on the stage of growth the corn yields might be lower." Other Sherman farmers, such as Ben Nickerson, said so far they have been lucky with the weather not affecting them as much as in other places. "We've been pretty lucky to be sitting in a spot that has gotten…...
